Separator Instructions

 

       SEPARATORS

           The first step towards a beautiful smile

Small circles of elastic are the separators we use.  Slowly, over a period, they reduce the contact pressure between the teeth.  This will allow us to comfortably place your orthodontic appliance or braces!

 

It is very important that you continue to brush all areas of your teeth.  However, flossing between teeth where separators is not advisable.

 

Finally, and most importantly, avoid all chewy and sticky foods (such as gum and caramel)!  Also, if you notice a separator missing, contact our office to let us know.  Remember, we need that space to place your orthodontic appliances comfortably.
